Ermington West Public School has an outstanding reputation in the community. This has been brought about by a combination of excellent educational programs, dedicated staff, enthusiastic students and a supportive and committed parent body.
At Ermington West PS we place a very strong emphasis on the importance of positive relationships between our teachers, students and community members, which in turn facilitates each child's development as a capable learner. We seek to take the contextual aspects of the community into account while focusing on the needs of the individual child. Of great importance to our school is our strong focus on literacy and numeracy programs that cater for the students' individual needs. The school has a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities, especially in the performing arts and sport. Excellent opportunities exist for students in performing arts programs through the school band, choir and dance groups. The school has a very proud and supportive community and is well supported by a pro-active School Council and a very industrious Parents and Citizens' Association, who work together with the staff to ensure a safe and happy learning environment for all students.
The school provides a caring environment, which is reflected in a school ethos that emphasises a strong set of values that are integrated into all aspects of our school and wider community. Positive Welfare Programs are also a feature of the school, with an emphasis on restorative practices in an environment in which students, staff and community work together to promote strong, healthy relationships that are based on mutual respect.
